    A naive look at the chart suggests that corporate profits exceed worker paychecks; that isn't what the chart shows.

    Actually, I just realized that the chart doesn't even make sense ... the vertical axes are labeled in units of "billions of billions of dollars" -- but it is inconceivable that the gross aggregate real income of workers has declined 20% over the last 40 years, when the labor force has doubled in the same period (the implication would be that real incomes are only about 40% of what they were in 1970, which is not true.)

    I suspect that the axis are mislabeled, and that they do indeed represent "share", as a fraction between 0 and 1, of the GDP.

    To put the torture behind us is, inevitably, to put it in front of us.
