    ...do you think that the minimum standard of living should be lower for someone living in San Francisco than for someone living in Eureka?

    Because I'm guessing that while they may be in the same state, the cost of living is very different between the Bay area and a small city like Eureka.  

    Realistically, there is a limit to how fine-grained a national minimum wage should be...and I would say that setting a national minimum wage is the way to go.  Remember...states are free to go above the national minimum wage.

      set at 10.54 at the present. As the city of Eureka has some of the highest costs of Fuel and other goods it is a rather high cost area. We are in the process of raising the minimum wage in the city of Eureka by ballot initiative. The Eureka Fair Wage act will require larger employers to pay $12 an hour.
