  •  MSNBC isn't a media front for the Democratic party (2+ / 0-)

Unlike FoxNews and the Republican party, for example.

But it does have the most liberal slant of any mainstream news organization and most of its hosts would describe themselves as liberal. Certainly, Chis Hayes, Rachel, Lawrence, Ed and MHP do.

With a few notable exceptions, Democratic congresspeople are not media savvy. And that's not even my point. I don't care where they speak up but can they speak up somewhere every single day with the same message..."The Republicans want this country to be ungovernable and here's the latest example of it"

by a corporate. Which means you see what they want you to see--nothing more, nothing less. If Democrats "growing a spine" will make corporations look bad, it won't be broadcast.

This has nothing to do with "media savvy". The first thing you need to do is disabuse yourself of the notion that "The Party" has any control over their message. They do not.

It is time to #Occupy Media.

The Media does not have to cover everything. Since consolidation, the messages are coordinated.

They do not cover something just because it's "news". They cover what they are told to cover.

      •  You're right - the Rs are more entertaining. (1+ / 0-)

And that's why they end up on the boob tube much more frequently than the Dems.

If we had a few Dems that were willing to give a full-throated defense of Democratic policies, the media would EAT IT UP. It plays completely into their usually false "one side says/other side says" setup. Unfortunately, the Dem leadership in Congress is way too cautious to throw red meat, and the Rs are way too willing. They don't worry about accuracy either.

Modern news organizations are just another entertainment outlet for their corporate parents. Rs get more screen time because they're more entertaining. That's why they get more coverage.

Reforms come from below. No man with four aces howls for a new deal.
