    Tweeting and texting are two very different things, seems to me. Tweeting is all about getting your voice out to the larger world, not unlike making a comment on a site like this. Texting is all about instant communication between friends.

    To be interested in tweeting you must be engaged in the need to comment on the goings on of the day. IOW, a world outside your bubble.

    My son, all about his friends and his social group right now, texts like crazy. I doubt he's ever tweeted.  And we live in a blue state in the north.

      beyond one's social circle, so does the interest in Twitter. I find it great for connecting on various subjects -- come the regular season I should be seeing more baseball related Tweets including a Twitter friend coming out of his "man cave" for the season. ;-)
