    there would likely be near zero relationship between gun safety and having taken the class.  Most of my class was consumed with anecdotes, amusing and otherwise, that were geared to fill the mandated eight hours of instruction. Aside from the short period on the range required to show you could hit a stationary target a few feet in front of you, and the half hour or so spent actually discussing your legal responsibilities while carrying, little time was spent learning anything safety related.

      no permit as I have no handgun anyway.

      I've taken hunter safety and sat through a class with my son. One of the most thorough and concentrated safety classes on any subject I've been in. A superbly talented instructor doing an amazing job of putting knowledge into the heads of the students in 10 hours.

      I wish every gun owner would take a hunter safety class.
