    To generate another couple of numbers, here's what that single 60 year old would pay if he (or she) makes $44,000/year:  $348, which is pretty good.

    But, if that single 60 year old got a raise and is now making $45,000/year, the subsidy completely disappears, and he (or she) is now stuck with an unsubsidized premium of $848/month.

    I support the ACA, which will help many people when it kicks in, and will hopefully be the platform on which we can build an even better system.  But it's also fair to acknowledge it's limitations -- and that cutoff for aid of 400% of the poverty line is a definite limitation certain cases, specifically involving people who are in their 50s of early 60s and who are around 400% to 600% of the poverty line.
