  •  Cleveland Clinic does advertise, by the way... (2+ / 0-)

but those ads are short and mostly remind people that anyone can seek treatment there, whether you live in Cleveland or not.  Their reputation proceeds them.

Then again, thank the Saudi royal family generously, when considering Cleveland Clinic.  Their top cardiologist was the family's cardiologist for many years.  They endowed the cardiac care center as a gift to him.

When my mother was dying from her brain tumor, I waited in the waiting room with a branch of the Saudi royal family.

    •  Oh, the Saudis are treated well there, believe me! (1+ / 0-)

I was there for my colectomy (colon removing surgery).  The Saudi royal family was there, too, and they closed an entire floor for them, including exclusive access to the roof observation deck.  Us poor peons were told the deck was unavailable.

The rich patients that visited the Cleveland Clinic had their own private wing, too, though far less generous then the Saudis got.  At the least, the royal family paid for that access, and did some good in the process.

The one thing that us middle class nobodies got access to, same as the rich?  The surgeons.  And that, ultimately, was the most important thing.
