  •  Cheers from sunny-but-chilly FLA (14+ / 0-)

It is March. I am done with winter. Am hoping this will be the day winter is done with us.

Yes, I know....complaining when the lows are in the 40s and the highs in the 60s, but I moved here for lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s....

Mega cheers to other "done"s...the meditation book feels finished. I have one section to complete (on "radical compassion") but...it's done. Doing a double check of placement for the sections this week then sending off to my mom for a beta read--she's heard me talk about most of the sections of the book many times, so I figure she's my best reader. Now I should probably clean my apartment before it auditions for a reality show on A&E.

sorta-jeers to the fact that several friends have suggested seminars, but I'm just not sure how to structure them so people get what they need from them. There's either too much or too little.

Cheers to a job I love, because there's plenty of it to do these days.

    •  I've given the first chapters of my novel (6+ / 0-)

to an old schoolmate whose responses seemed distracted, and to my brother who loves me too much to be objectively critical.

My young niece with a profound intellect asked to read what I have, so I'll be sending it to her. I've been writing at a snail's pace because I'm not breaking my routine. I have to get down to it.

I'm not teaching anything. This is pure escapist fiction. Light reading. My next book, which is writing itself in a small comfortable room in the recesses of my conscious mind, will still be fiction but of a much heavier order.

I'm getting more and more behind. And one of the best parts of the story is coming up...

      •  good for you! (4+ / 0-)

And I will share that this is only part of what I write--I also write genre fiction. Escape through books is a good thing :)

What are you writing? Short? Long? Sci-fi? Thriller? (etc)

Not really Sci-Fi and not really Fantasy as most people think of it.
It's the sudden acquisition of complete knowledge of a former life by a 10-year old boy and how he uses that knowledge throughout his life. Throw in some actual twomindedness & some overlap with his previous life and you have fodder for the plot.

Sounds like a book that needs to be published. And I'm a decent beta reader, so if your niece isn't able to come through for you, and you'd like an outside perspective, give a yell.
