place his name when I saw the diary title. I was born in the mid-60's so his most prolific years were before my time, but I'm not exactly clueless about 60's and 70's rock musicians. Still, although his music is obviously familiar to me, I never knew the name behind it. Even the band Ten Years After has always been a bit of a mystery to me, one of those "cult groups" that never quite reached the level of a Cream or Byrds let alone Stones or Beatles in terms of mass popularity, like King Crimson or Mott the Hoople.

Obviously, a massive talent. So many of them seem to die young, especially guitarists for some reason (e.g. Hendrix, Vaughan, Allman, Healey--Johnson, obviously). I think I'll be listening to his work more now.

    RIP, Alvin.
