Far from it.  So no insult taken, at least in that respect.

Nor am I interested in blanket statements about how screwed up DC is...about how both sides are to blame.  Obviously, with a Democrat in the White House accepting and expanding the WORST of the security-state policies he inherited from the prior Republican who resided there, it's obvious to anyone with a pulse that there's plenty of blame to be spread around.

What concerns me is the attempt to diminish the importance of what was said by focusing on who it was who said it.

Actually, if you re-read your comment in reply to me, you sound a lot more like an anti-government Randian than I do.

Too little time has been spent talking about the issues raised yesterday.  Would I have preferred someone with a D after his or her name shine some light on these issues?  Sure.  Do I get to choose who it is that does?  Nope.  Am I gonna take what I can get?  Sure am.  Am I gonna shame those in my party for lacking either the courage or the brains to address these issues?  You bet.

Like I said, it's a damn shame that it took the Crazy Tea Party Republican from Kentucky to bring these issues to a head.

Hopefully the dialogue will expand into people's awareness enough to make a change. I am disturbed at this guy possibly becoming respected. If you turn around he will knock off SS and medicaid. Watch your back.

...politician.  Obviously, there is no one easier to regard with skepticism than Rand Paul.  But I would offer a little  piece of advice of my own to you:

Watch your Left wrt SS and Medicare (it's your Blind Spot) -- ever heard of Chained CPI?  Means Testing?  Simpson / Bowles? Those are Sacrificial Lamb initiatives offered up to Republicans by the administration to cut Entitlements in order to solve the non-existent Debt Crisis.  Rand Paul couldn't get one of those initiatives passed if he were to offer them up in an economic package...but President Obama?  Those are HIS ideas.

As Rand Paul rambled for 13 hours yesterday, Pres. Obama wined and dined Lindsey Graham and John McCain and about 10 other Republicans in order to get them outside their Echo-Chamber bubble and lay it all out for them over Filet Mignon and a nice California Cabernet.  While you're busy watching the Right and worrying about Rand Paul's fabled new-found bona fides, the very cuts you worry about occurring at the hands of Right Wingers are being hacked away at from just outside your peripheral vision on the Left.

But, I accept your advice not to turn my back on Rand Paul.

        :)

I feel helpless. They do not respond to the voters, only the moneyed interests. So far, Obama has only bluffed. Please tell me he's a master strategest!
