Was a plot to use bottles of contact lens solution to smuggle nitroglycerin on a plane.

It was used on a Philippine Airlines flight, blowing a hole in the plane and killing one passenger.  Perhaps it would have brought down the plane if the seat had been closer to the fuel tank, like it was supposed to be.

This happened in 1994.  It has always bothered me that the government didn't do more then about regulating what can be brought on flights.

      Thanks for the info., AdJ.

Since I'd never heard of "Bojinka" before reading AdJ's post, it's probable that I'm not the only one.  Read the details at this link and you may find you don't resent the limitation on fluids as much.

    •  Except you can still bring lens solution on flight (0+ / 0-)

You can bring larger bottles of contact lens solution on flights as it's a "medical liquid." Amazing.
