  •  Of course there's plenty of torment. (10+ / 0-)

I feel tormented every time I look at a gay man under 25.

Seriously though while they're having--overall--an easier time than we did we're still far from the day coming out doesn't have the potential left to cause torment and drama.

We mustn't write off younger queers. I like to point out the kid who sells me my newspaper and cigarettes. He's probably no older than 26, and I can tell that when he's not working, he does a lot of drag. This kid knows his queer history and not only the gay cultural references of my generation, but a surprising amount about Dave's, too. I'm pretty sure he hasn't been to college, but I have had no end of serious conversations with him about this stuff when the store is slow and I stop in for something. I'll also add that he came to Terun's funeral at the Cathedral--by BUS in FEBRUARY in Maine. There are a lot of young guys who are serious about being queer.
