Data. I know fetishists have a difficult time with it.

Much like data indicated we needed bumpers and airbags on cars, it indicates there is a problem with freely handing out guns like candy, as if owning one with no responsibilities is a "right" as you claim.

Also... what "innocent Americans" are you talking about? Are those the mythical "responsible gun owners" cropping up again?

Americans that haven't committed a crime.

You distrust your fellow citizens & fear the liberties they have.
      I don't.

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.

Doesn't make someone "innocent". For instance, handing a gun to someone who is suicidal makes you complicit. Advocating laws that put guns in the hands of murderers makes you complicit.

People like you are quite guilty, actually. Bloody hands, as they say.

As for our fellow citizens, yes, it seems to me that any sane person should look at them and the rates at which they commit violence or suffer from mental illness and realize they are obviously not responsible enough to be trusted with modern weaponry including rocket launchers, tanks, nuclear weapons, and, now, handguns and rifles. I'll bet you even agree except you make an arbitrary exception for the guns you worship.

If you can honestly say that you are happy with the result of your fellow citizens having this kind of power to kill at will, maybe you should rethink your position. It has not gone well.
