  •  The President does not have the right (0+ / 0-)

to use force against those who are not combatants. So don't worry, Obama won't blow up your park encampment.

No, it is not snark at all. Those who seek to overthrow the government through violent means can and should be targets of lethal force. I don't understand why that's at all controversial.

    •  But my point is WHO designates.... (0+ / 0-)

individuals as enemy combatants? Right now that decision can be left solely to "A President". Again, I trust that President Obama would do the right thing but would I trust Bush & Chaney if they felt I was hindering something they were trying to do? HeLL2theNaaaaawwwww!!!

      •  Well, this is a very good question. (0+ / 0-)

That is indeed the million dollar question. My point is that, we cannot and should not abandon the use of lethal force in extraordinary circumstances because of the ambiguity inherent in the designation of who is an enemy combatant and who isn't.
    •  Oh....and who determines who & what is (0+ / 0-)

trying to overthrow the government? Could my liberal political views be considered trying to overthrow the government?

      •  Clearly a political view is non-violent. (0+ / 0-)

There's a clear, bright line between those who engage in violence and those who do not, so I'm not sure why you're asking the question.

        •  I'm not sure that is so clear? If the decision is (0+ / 0-)

solely left to "A President" how do we know what his/her motivations are? What is to stop "A President" from naming me a enemy combatant and/or terrorist if there is no one there to check his authority? This is not as far fetched as it seems especially since he passing of "the Patriot Act".
