and so does the GOP. Their base dislikes and distrusts their best candidate, and he'll need to pander and grovel just to get nominated. But pandering makes him a worse candidate in November.

Prepander Romney was a better candidate than Severe Romney, too.

Peace on Earth was all it said.

    •  Christie may have to pander... (0+ / 0-)

...but I don't think he's got the self-discipline to carry it off.

For better or for worse, he's very much a "shoot from the hip, say the first thing that comes to my mind" kind of guy and having to endlessly repeat platitudes the base wants to hear will only happen for so long.

    •  No, both Romney's were terrible candidates, (2+ / 0-)

and I say that without using my political views. He was just awful. Smarmy, Disingenuous, Awkward, he embodied every negative stereotype of a politician ....the list on him goes on and on.

He was, by far, the worst candidate I have ever seen the GOP put up.....and that sure was fun, wunnit? ;)

But we can't count on the GOP putting up a tomato can like him again.
And Christie certainly wouldn't be one. Far more likable. Far better moderate credentials. Far less disingenuous.
In fact, I think he would be a handful in a general election.....but I know he's a far better candidate than that POS Romney.

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.

IF he had a snowball's chance in hell of getting the nomination. To do so as the GOP is currently constituted, he too would have to assume positions 180 degrees from those he's taken so far. But he's known for being abrasive and belligerent which would be amplified in a campaign. And unless he loses 100 pounds or more, he won't have the stamina anyway. Why oh why do we keep putting Republicans up on pedestals as unbeatable icons?

On the other hand, why do we do so with Hillary either? None of this polling is real, since it's so far out.

        Jon Husted is a dick.
