  •  well and there the problem (0+ / 0-)

with the whole state, no want to run everyone is pussy footing in Michigan, she has been vulnerably for years, but there is no one that want to even challenge her because she use to be SoS and people think she has too much Name ID, The Dritrict is very much a Purple Dristrict were a Convser-dem or Populist Dem could run away with it

    •  But it takes months and conversations (2+ / 0-)

Live there part time (vote in 1, though). I knew Miller. She was actually a pretty good SoS but a total tool/puppet as a GOP rep.

If someone began NOW, worked to explain every vote she made, and worked with the union and retired union folks, it would be VERY doable.

It's old history. They gerrymandered Bonior out 12 years ago, and he could have simply moved a couple miles down the road but he wouldn't do it.

even though he would have romped, and if he wanted to be a Dingell-like lifer, would probably still hold this seat today.

        •  No, he would not (4+ / 0-)

Bonior was very popular in the northern part of his district, and could easily have moved a couple miles. It was a matter of principle with him. (South end of his old district he wrould have had to primary a veteran Dem.)

And he didn't really retire. He even floated a bid for Governor.

He's just an example. There were many big-name Dems at that time.

Brewer is a lousy head of the Michigan Dem party and hasn't recruited any names since then.

we had with McCotter, and even Bentivolio last year.  It's hard to find anyone good to run in the 11th.  They're all either shitty candidates, or make some stupid campaign choices.  Or just have absolutely no name recognition.
