    I hear ya about limited sample size, maybe some of the other Walkers there could be on the lookout too? Or BilltheDog? You can even store pellets until you have a bunch to look at.

    I first got interested in owl pellets when I saw a video about an evolutionary researcher named David Steadman who was using old pellet remains to identify what species existed on various Pacific islands pre and post human contact, like the Galapagos and others settled long ago. He found them in caves, all dried up, thousands of tiny bones. Birds in particular were his interest. Tremendous amount of information in those dirt and bone deposits. Can't remember what he used to date them - that's pretty important in drawing a historical sequence.
