  •  When things get bad enough, we will finish (6+ / 0-)

the job with World Wars.  The pace of climate change will push us into survival mode and we will start attacking each other for the last of the earth's resources.   It will be Mad Max on a global scale.

    •  I am not certain about that (2+ / 0-)

But I do see (very easily) why you would think that.

Most of the world's conflicts right now have some origin in climate changes: in northern Mexico, farmers can't grow, so their sons turn to the drug trade; in the Levant and Mahgreb, the wheat price spike caused by the droughts in Russia and elsewhere have fueled the Arab Spring, and the list could go on.

While history has shown that people do tend to go to war over things like water, food and resources, I do not ever see a time when food will be short but hair gel will be plentiful, so I have to rule out the Mad Max World.

Plus, if you have no shampoo the body is pretty good about generating its own hair gel.

I tend to think that resource wars are coming sooner rather than later, especially since we've already had the first one in Iraq. Water wars in the American West were no laughing matter, and the situation there is going to get worse before it gets better, especially if people in LA insist on lush green lawns in the middle of an arid zone.
