    My point is that it starts with the gun owner, but its not just that guns are more often purchased or acquired by men than by women.

    Men are more likely to be the shooter, not just to be the victim. Men are more likely than women to take a gun with them into a bar. Men are more likely than women to commit a violent crime with a gun. Men are more likely to succeed with a suicide attempt when it's made with a gun.

    Women are far less likely to insist on having a gun in the home when the man doesn't want a gun in the home, etc. Women are far less likely to shoot their domestic partners when they try to leave the relationship.

    We know from our cultural practices that if women with guns created an injury/death liability for everyone around them, women would NOT be allowed to have guns.
