  •  I grew up in Minneapolis and moved to LA at 18 (4+ / 0-)

I recall seeing many beautiful winter scenes like the ones that Ace treated us to (thanks, Ace).  I, as an artist, do fully appreciate the pristine beauty of a northern winter but would not ever want to live through another Minnesota winter.  After more years than I want to admit to I still can feel the the sting of nearly frozen ears and fingers as well as the painful numbing cold of a below zero 20 mph wind.

I'll never forget my first winter in LA.  During Christmas week the temperatures each day were from the seventies to the high eighties.  Profusions of flowers in full bloom were to be seen throughout the city.

The two things about the weather here that people in SoCal seem to complain about the most are that the weather lacks in enough seasonal change and that we don't get enough rain.  I can put up with those minor inconveniences when I consider the alternatives.
