  •  I'm now reading a fascinating book on this very (0+ / 0-)

    subject.  It's James Kunstler's The Long Emergency. He says we've passed Peak Oil and we cannot sustain this amount of growth, we are about to run out of our lovely fossil fuels, will have to start eating locally, and all sorts of things that mean the end of our lifestyle as we now live it.

    I don't doubt it for a second.  What with global warming, disappearing jobs, and so on, I don't see how we can keep on our present, unthinking course, and survive.
