is if a climate change truther was on here saying that there is a global conspiracy of scientists to make it seem like there is climate change to somehow profit off of it we would mercilessly ridicule them.

Saying all the science is bought off by Monsanto and that we should assume GM is evil is anti-science nonsense.  There is broad scientific consensus that it GM is perfectly safe.  To deny that is conspiracy nonsense.

You can complain how Monsanto abuses the patent system, or how they terrorize small farmers.  But to say GM technology in itself evil is idiotic anti-science bull pucky.

saying the science is bought off by Monsanto.

If there were, I'd be right there with you on this.

There also seems to be, I agree, scant scientific evidence at best that GMO are unsafe.

at the FDA claim that "GMOs are generally recognized as safe". When it came time to certify that ridiculous lie about GMOs, the scientists at either the FDA or USDA who recommended it not be certified were overriden by the thumbheads in charge (most who had connections with big ag. Only Monsanto's 'science' certifies their crap as being safe. Their trials have only been conducted for 90 day periods.

Monsanto refuses to license their seeds for testing in the US for serious experiments, such as long-term. Europe doesn't have that sort of ridiculous licensing restriction, so most of the negative research about GMOs have come from Europe.

To say that science says GMOs are safe is very dishonest. Did you know that Bt trait GMO corn is registered with the EPA as a pesticide? You can eat that if you want, you can even have RoundUp put in an intravenous drip line if you want,  but I want my food labeled.

      •  You sound like a climate change conspiracy (0+ / 0-)

        theorist:

Only politically-connected Feds at the FDA claim that "GMOs are generally recognized as safe".
And the vast majority of scientists in the field...
To say that science says GMOs are safe is very dishonest.
The process of genetic modification is perfectly safe.  And to say otherwise is ignorant anti-science hooey.

However, it is conceivable someone could use the GM process to insert a gene that produces arsenic poison.  But then again someone could use their Prius to mow down pedestrians...

        •  And of course (0+ / 0-)

you never back up your claims with a single fact. Why not link to some Monsanto goodness to show how the scientific community is the pro-GMO choo-choo tracks on which you're riding?
