    the "Free Market" did not mean a market free of taxes and regulation, it meant practically the opposite. It was a market free of predators, monopolists, and unearned economic rents. That free market did not tax labor or consumption, it taxed unearned income that drained the economy's vitality, and reinvested it for the public good. That was a free market the served everyone. Today, that free market is a distant memory.
