    If he had received air support and maybe had some DCCC boots on the ground, I think he probably would have won. But I think the DCCC was sufficiently annoyed with Taj not taking the race seriously that they decided to focus elsewhere, considering the seat would be lost in 2014 anyway and there was no way for their investment to guarantee Taj wouldn't goof off and lose anyway.

      It may have worked better to try to get someone like Dave Curson to run.  The timeline wasn't right though and Curson made it clear he had no desire to continue to run for the office.

      People forget that Taj was a registered Republican at one point and had no natural ties to organized labor or any constituency that may be crucial in that district.

      Curson may not have won that special election if two other candidates weren't on the ballot, so this is all speculation on my point.  Curson was a UAW man as well.
