  •  I'm hesitant to blame Peters (2+ / 0-)

For not running against McCotter. Because just like in New Jersey, that is exactly the outcome Republicans were hoping for: Eliminate a Dem district, and watch two Congressmen cannibalize each other.

We shouldn't damn Peters for wanting to run in a district he thought he would win. Lack of political courage? Sure. But blame at his feet? I don't think so.

though I absolutely am pissed that he and the others on the list chose to run in the seats they did, but I can totally understand and even sympathize on a personal level with why they chose so.

For Peters, had he run in the 11th last year, it wouldn't have set him up nearly as well for a statewide run since he'd have to have run as a moderate last year and would be viewed with skepticism in a Democratic primary.

People like Jim Costa are the ones who deserve outrage. He was safe in the 21st with Obama winning it by 12 points and would have had the exact same voting record.

      •  Oh yes, completely agree there. (1+ / 0-)

Costa and Baca were both craven with their choices. Rothman and Peters were more self-preservationist.
