    but the explosion of online universities, some accredited, some unaccredited and others just old fashioned diploma mills and scams, have a bewildering array of degree possibilities available to potential students.  Want a PhD in Phrenology?  Not much of a job market but hey, a degree will make me an extra $1m in salary.  It is true; I heard it on the internets.

    Currently, it appears there is little quality control out there for degrees for nontraditional students and the potential to be taken for thousands as more and more people try to compete for fewer jobs.  If a university lacks accreditation or lacks accreditation by a recognized regional accrediting body, the correct response is to run away as rapidly as possible
