  •  That's it in a nutshell... (11+ / 0-)

When it comes to Right Wingers there are many proven truths that they will never accept...

But give them a satire piece written on an Obama or, a Progressive Failure and they will swallow the bait every time...

They are indeed a weird combination of skepticism and gullibility at the same time, with their failure to compute logic properly...

    •  When you are highly suggestable, (3+ / 0-)

you get burned, which makes you defensive (skepticism is a higher order than defensive, one that uses thought).

Their suggestablity is tied to their raft of assumptions, fed to them for the last 30+ years by the RWNM. Either a "story" supports those false assumptions, or it challenges them; that determines whether or not they buy the story as true or not, whether they treat the story with gullibility or defensive dismissal, rather than the accuracy of the story nor the history of the source (i.e., does this source provide accurate stories consistantly).

PrezObama's only mistake in the sequester is that he assumed that the Republicans would be more loyal to their oath of office to serve the people than their oath to Norquist to never close tax loopholes.

    •  Not sure if skepticism is the right word. Abused (3+ / 0-)

children often cling to the abusive parent. Which sounds backwards until you think about a closed system, who has the power and needs to be appeased. Abusive people tend to isolate the abused, often scaring them about 'other people' lying to them and doing pretty much everything that the abuser is doing. They put themselves forward as the only trustworthy source and totally undermine the abused's trust in their own perceptions, leaving them frightened and totally dependent on the abuser's input and interpretation.

It's an inoculation, of sorts, they're the ones actually lying and using the abused, but they scare the abused into being afraid of others doing it and take away the abused's ability to correctly perceive the situation. It's also part of why the conservatives are so terrified and act so threatened by being presented with facts and logical questions; if the ones they depend on are lying to them, then their whole world view collapses, everything that they've based everything on is false and the world implodes. Nothing can be counted on as real. And they no longer have the ability to perceive and discern things for themselves. They're crippled and dependent on the abusers.

Which is exactly what the power freaks want.
