Just make sure to stay through the whole thing and that means several days after Easter. It takes careful planning around various schedules. Be sure to get reservations ahead as Easter is very busy. Rooms are available in Olymbos.

I think it is Tuesday after Easter when the icons are carried through the streets to various family chapels. Those who carry them have bid and have paid well for the right to do so. Finally the parade of people and icons ends up at the cemetery. Each family spreads food out on the graves for all to eat. The priest goes from grave to grave giving a prayer for each person who is buried there.

That evening as the sun is setting, bagpipes and other strange instruments are played in the square and the drinking commences.  After dark the whole thing adjurns to the school where there is dancing most of the night.
