    One, you never know. Two, kids might see you and get the wrong idea about real guns. Three, it's a good habit for when you handle real guns. And four, someone might think you have a real gun and react as such.

      walk around anime cons and such with those orange-tipped fake firearms.

      I was never allowed any toy guns growing up, and the water guns - this was just before the Super Soakers became anywhere near reasonably priced - all had to be fairly translucent and brightly colored. As in, you'd better be able to see the water sloshing around in it from a dozen feet away.

      The year the old ones started leaking and Mom couldn't find translucent replacements was the year without water battles.

      And we didn't have any firearms at all in the house, so it was not a matter of real and fake being at risk of being mistaken for each other inside the home.
