  •  So what we're really talking about is a confused (0+ / 0-)

young man, struggling with his gender identity, probably a complete misfit in the military, in trouble a lot, who chose to punish his abusers by embarrassing them publicly.  That's his perfect right.  Making him a hero is tough given what seem to be the facts.  Isn't it more meaningful to talk about the hell of being transgender and unable to fit in the culture he chose?  There's a disconnect to the whole story as presented.

I'm not looking for a love that will lift me up and carry me away. A love that will stroll alongside and make a few amusing comments will suffice.

      You are embarassing yourself here.

Before you type another comment, you need to go read the Manning/Lamo Chat Logs.  They leave absolutely no ambiguity about to Manning's motivation for releasing the documents.

How can someone like yourself be so willing to comment on things that they know fuck all about?

      •  It's mostly to bring some outside (0+ / 0-)

the box notions into the discussion.  Most commenters don't have deep background, they're repeating what someone said.

I supported OWS's initial work, bringing attention to income equality.  Then I asked where the fuck they were in 1968 when every woman in the country got funneled into pink collar low-pay jobs as SOP.  And why did it take middle-class white guys getting tased for anyone to get it that the cops are out of control.

If Bradley Manning was a angry black man who took his info to the NYT would he get this kind of attention here?

If Sandy Hook was in inner city anywhere USA and the victims were POC would it still be a beacon for changing gun laws?

If poor people are routinely abused in jails and prisons, stripped naked, left in concrete cells with no mattresses and bright lights 24 hours a day, no privacy, no toilet paper, no place to sit but bare-assed on roughened concrete, why isn't that torture we are outraged about?

Special cases is my point.  If it happens to white guys who are educated, and have had their entitlement stripped away it's a big damn deal here.  What about my DFH brother who spent 2 years in a brig for deciding he wouldn't kill gooks and slopes?  That's why I'm being annoying as all hell every chance I get.  These are not people selected out for punishment and abuse, they're people we dont think should should suffer because (? ), while who knows how many others routinely live the same story.
