  •  Sandhill Cranes in our yard (6+ / 0-)

We have a geothermal system that uses well water and discharges it back to the wetland between our house and the lake.  This produces an area where birds can get water most any time in the winter months, and this time of year there is no frost.  The cranes forage for grubs mostly at this time of year.

We believe that the cranes are the same ones each year--not banded, but they certainly know their way around.

I was thinking of putting together a diary about the cranes. Not all photos from the same year, but I have photos of them early in our backyard, their nest with two eggs, and several pairs of colts over the years. If I figure it out, I have video of the parents feeding the colts.  There are successive photos until late summer when they are the size of the parents.

The plural of anecdote is NOT data
