  •  The saddest part is we elected this guy ... twice. (6+ / 0-)

Lucky for him he ran against incompetent Republicans in 2008 and 2012.  Also lucky is that Hillary self-destructed in the 2008 campaign when she got a good challenge.  Look at Obama's record.  He's won by running against losers.

he was as close to a progressive as was electable. That is something we have to work on going forward.

closer to progressive than being a Tea Partier is, but that's like saying you're closer to the South Pole in Chicago than you are in Evanston.

because he was better than either McCain or Romney. That doesn't say a lot.  Olympia Snowe would have gotten my vote twice too against that pair, for example.

    •  He won because some of us... (4+ / 0-)

... only voted "against" McWhatzit & the Tundra Tramp the first time and "against" Mitty the second time.  We didn't actually vote "for" Obama.  I didn't support his platform the first time, nor the second.

I had planned to write in a candidate name until the Tundra Tramp started speaking.  In less than 30 seconds I knew she was as bad, or worse, than Dumbya and couldn't be allowed within walking distance of the Oval Office, so I had to vote against those two walking disasters; the second time was also a case of casting a vote against the worst of evil choices.

do much differently.  We have a Dem President candidate pool that is full of conservative Democrats.  Perhaps if this country wasn't so lopsidedly arranged in favor of the smallest mostly conservative population then we would see more progressive candidates.

But it isn't so what next?
