  •  Arlington virtual visit (7+ / 0-)

If you knew someone who is buried there, but cannot easily visit Arlington, check out their ANC Explorer.
They have both a web navigator and a mobile app. It's possible to view the major sites like the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and JFK's grave, but even better, you can find the grave site or columbarium niche of any individual laid to rest there. A first and last name might be enough if it's not a common name; otherwise either a DOB or date of death is needed. For grave sites, both front and back of the marker can be viewed. The back has the section and grave number, so if you ever have to opportunity to visit in person, you will be able to find that location. The photos in this posting are remarkable, but even the last one does not convey the overwhelming size of our national cemetery.
