logic and likely come with a history behind them, missing here as well as in the articles...but the one I still can't understand is this resistance to the stolen.missing inventory counting/reporting. That's nuts....a so obvious loophole allowing unregulated transfers.

And if stolen then what happens to the FFL dealer, anything?

Or are they claiming it was just too much paperwork?

I want to hear more about that one.

    and this quote

Senate Democrats on the committee.....reluctantly agreed to make them permanent to stave off what they saw as an even more far-reaching House version of the bill.
is telling something about dems attempts to get something passed, given the politics.

Public on one side, lobbyists on the other, money doing the talking.

    and this:

prevent the A.T.F. from requiring gun dealers on the Southwest border to notify the agency when selling two or more long guns — semiautomatic rifles, higher than .22 caliber with detachable magazines — to the same buyer within five days.
That is absurd...15 days, 25 days..but 5 days..this is a known problem for crying out loud. Nothing subtle about that issue.

And this seems more concise this way, than the article..

.....Garen J. Wintemute, the director of the violence prevention research program at the University of California, Davis “Regular inventories help identify retailers who are not adequately protecting their firearms from loss or theft and, more important, those who are letting firearms go out the back door and declaring them lost or stolen,” he said.
    Thanks again..but wait, there's more..

Some good info here: The Fight on Background Checks Needs a Recount

Here's the failed so far Washington state law requiring all sales background checks, a pdf of the bill Wash. HB 1588 and the watered down substitute version , pdf. Thanks to tytalus for the original story links containing the HB1558.

Very educational, sadly. I hope they don't give up about it..these are elemental reforms need. And we haven't gotten to the funding part...

And the fact that whoever attached it was not laughed out of the room disturbing.

    •  Agreed (0+ / 0-)

Stolen and missing inventory needs to be reported and tracked.  I have no problem if what happened to Badger Guns happens on a more regular basis.  These guys had a bad reputation of straw purchases.

The sequester is the new Republican immigration reform plan. Make things so bad here in the US that no one will want to live here.
