The Guardian article points out that this opens a third front in the phone hacking investigation, representing a widening of the  probe at a time when most expected it to be winding down. Isn't it also the first batch of arrests for hacking at non-News International papers? It will make it that much harder for people in the news industry trying to block Leveson reforms to  assert that the rot was only at NI (the "one rogue news business" defense, as it were).

it will make it harder, which is probably a reason for camerons Palpable panic today. I've half a mind that the current plan is for the whole thing to fail, so that Cameron can say Well I tried, and blame everything on everyone else.

In my thoughts to there must still be another round of arrests at least still to occur at employees of the NOTW, there's a whole group who you would assume from the  victims list who as yet appear untouched by the investigation.

it's possible that there are one or two more newspaper groups who could still be investigated, but it's hard to tell.

The Mirror groups shares have fallen by 14% today on the news of todays arrest,
