  •  Pipeline Work? (0+ / 0-)
she's a former petroleum engineer who worked on the Trans-Alaska pipeline and has actually fracked an oil well.
Do you have a creditable cite that she worked on the trans-Alaska Pipeline? Or that she had ever fracked a pipeline?

Her Wikipedia entry notes that she worked for Mobile in Oklahoma fields, from 1978-1981. This would have been immediately after her 1978 college graduation.

None of the biographical news stories cited in the Wiki mention her working on the Prudhoe Bay pipeline. And I could be wrong, but I also do not think fracking -- at least as we understand fracking today -- was technology used in oil fields during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Not trying to jump your diary, but looking for accuracy.

Don't get me wrong: I think Jewell has the potential to be a fantastic Interior secretary. The department has too often been under the rule of those with only a development background, so it's very good news to have a nominee who, yes, has a bit of industry background but who also knows, first-hand, the value of clean, open land for recreation.
