  •  What if Moore's thesis... (0+ / 0-)

...that the NRA (at least in its modern incarnation--not its historical foundation) or gun ownership among white urban, suburban or rural populations is essentially a front for: white flight, fears about urban crime, a cover for white supremacy, fear of a black planet, fear of a home invasion, fear of a riot, fear of a mob gangr*pe...then Moore is just plain wrong.  The NRA was very busy denying that widesprerad gun ownership was nothing to do with racial issues after Bowling for Columbine caused a stir.  As Voltaire pointed out "To know who rules over you, just figure out who [what] you can't mention."

The NRA reacted so much back then that, underneath all the talk about Tyranny from the Federal Gov it's really about racial faultlines. Even the paranoia about the FBI ATF TSA, it's just about race. All in all I tend to think that Moore got that bit right.  OTOH his idea about publishing massacre pictures could just as easily be turned around and racist groups could publish crime scenes from black on white and black on black violence as a counter propganda for their own position. It could bite back.

A Catholic, Jew, Muslim and Buddhist walk into Al Aqsa Mosque. Buddhist immediately exclaims: "excuse me I appear to be in the wrong joke."
