      Similarly, plainly the Right has been itching for war with Iran since November 1979.  It really is all about that, I think.  The Gulf and Iraq wars were just the store-brand version.

      Thing is, they have an overarching mythology which keeps them coherent and unified.  We were making a new one, but we abandoned it in the face of the rise of Reagan, deciding we needed to "adapt".  It was by not adapting too much--by making others adapt to them wherever possible--that the conservative movement got as far as it did.  We adapted too much, and that both makes us look like losers and causes us to lose sight of what we really value.

      The '60s were simply an attempt to get the 21st Century started early....Well, what are we waiting for? There's no deadline on a dream!
