brilliant!  Screw 'em.  They want to pretend, let their constituents yell back at them.

it made the WH look petty.  Brilliant?  Maybe you and 3 others think so.

    •  It was the farthest thing from brilliant (0+ / 0-)

Ending the White House tours doesn't just impact Republicans and their friends. We have thousands of Democrats and Obama supporters who had tours planned this Spring and Summer. This is a PR disaster for the White House.

I hope some foundation, or wealthy individual, will come up with the $2 million needed to fund the tours through the end of the fiscal year.

      •  It's providing visible evidence the sequester is (0+ / 0-)

having effects, for those who want to pretend nothing is happening.

        •  That seems to me to be a backwards view (0+ / 0-)

of government. We have a federal government that has an annual budget in excess of $3 Trillion. If we are cutting $90 billion out of that budget it seems to me that those parts of the budget that provide the most visible service to the taxpayers should be the last thing, not the first thing, that is cut. Isn't the purpose of government to provide services to its taxpayers who finance it?

If someone starts a fund to start the White House tours I would support it and contribute.

          •  Imo what should be cut first are things that don't (0+ / 0-)

hurt people.  Food assistance, etc.  Tours may be fun, but they're not important.

Meals on wheels vs tours? No contest.  Cut the Secret Service's Presidential protection function to keep their tours?  No way.

Why are we even talking about nonsensical Republican talking points?
