    having not so long ago completed a (worthless) professional certification at a "degree mill" institution. My own experience included being personally insulted by a professor, in at least one sad case.

    I'd agree that the primary interest of these places is often NOT in furthering your goals and potential as a student, but in cashing your tuition checks.

    The institution I attended received a lot of public funding. A lot of places now have these "customer satisfaction" surveys. If "XYZ University" wants to survive, in this era of austerity, you'd think it would take seriously its own value to students.

    As it is, there may be many alumni in my boat, who, if we're in a position to leave money when we die, will not leave our alma mater one thin dime.
