  •  This quote also provoked a negative reaction (6+ / 0-)

    from the CPAC crowd.

"Of course deficits matter, but any one of you who supported the Bush tax cuts, the Bush war in Iraq or the Bush prescription drug entitlement plan, has no business talking about debt. Just sit down, shut up and let the grown-ups handle it," he chided the conservative crowd.
Saw it on CNN yesterday afternoon. Just couldn't find the video clip.

Give that man a medal!  Thanks for sharing, Dartagnan.

      Have a great weekend.

w/o any intervention by the government.  The economy is healing itself while the hawks, like the leeches (doctors) in the old days bled pts to restore their "humors'" balance.  So you have a guy with typhoid fever or flu or whatever so you take a couple of pints of blood from him every day or so.

The metaphor works as in this case, the economy, despite only limited federal intervention, is healing itself (consider what a WPA or CCC would have accomplished) and here come the hawks with their austerity programs who would bleed the pt to speed his recovery.  However, I note these hawks cannot name a single industrialized nation where austerity has achieved its goals whereby every EU country that has embraced austerity has come to regret it
