    does something cool like that.

Many years ago, a friend of mine got a job at one of the local psychiatric hospitals.  He was a nurse's aide, a job title that is no longer in use. They are now called Certified Nurse's Assistants.  He was a tall lanky guy with a laid back demeanor. It seemed there was almost nothing at the hospital he couldn't do and he was wonderful with the patients. He was a master at getting an agitated or combative patient calmed down and talking. He could quote an awful lot of diagnostic codes from memory, saving the nurses from having to look them up when charting. All the nurses and staff loved him. Even the psychiatrists began seeking his input when trying to decide on a treatment plan for a new patient.

Finally, after working there several months he "came out" to them.  The bureaucratic paperwork to transfer his license as a Clinical Psychologist from his home state came through, and he could reveal his real identity. The nurses and staff, after they got over their initial shock, said they knew there was something special about him. He seemed to know an awful lot about mental health care for a brand new nurse's aide.  By then they were so used to calling him by his first name, they had difficulty adjusting to addressing him as "Doctor."

The only people who knew who our own "Uncle Drew's" real identity was the hospital administrator and me.  We were sworn to secrecy, and since we both have a dark sense of humor, that was no problem.  We got a kick out of it.

"Uncle Drew" experience from the insider's perspective.  I love it!

they took it with great good humor.  Of course, it helped that he is a truly likable guy.  Later, he went back to Alabama, where I lost track of him.  That hospital struggled financially after managed care started being implemented in the 1990s and finally closed.  I always called managed care "mismanaged" care.  It was managed all right, but there was damn little care.
