  •  Rumsfeld's free while Bradley Manning's not (8+ / 0-)

Ask not for whom the bell tolls.

The evil bloodsuckers who dragged us into the Viet Nam war never paid any price for the 50,000 American dead and millions dead in south-east Asia.

    Nothing has changed.

People have been shot for treason for less than what Rumsfeld and Cheney did to America.

The Viet Nam war shattered our economy. They did it again with the Iraq war.

Did you notice the news recently about oil in the basins offshore of Viet Nam?

All this sticking killing, torture and evil for oil so that we can billionaires can rake in more billions and crooks can profit from war while they cook the planet to a crisp.

look for my eSci diary series Thursday evening.

    •  can't believe how quickly US going down (8+ / 0-)

"Dark Ages America: The Final Phase of Empire" was published in 2006 and written by the social historian Morris Berman.

He says that on the way down, empires choose leaders who hasten the collapse.

Read this when W Bush was president and it fit.

Now Obama seems to be right in line with these comments.

Again - can't believe the crazy talk about invading Iran

what in the hell is going on?

does "hell" even understand what is going on?

What way to hasten the collaspe than a charismatic leader, who has such a lovely smile, and when he sings, well, doesn't it touch your heart? And such a beautiful family, a lovely wife and those kids, amazing. And that adorable dog! Is he adorable or what!

I bought the Obama candidate line, hook-line-sinker. But I am no longer buying the Obama president line. To me now, they bear no resemblance to the other.

What is the hell is going on? Why are so many people running around yelling USA?

that Iran is a longer term project, and that invasions are off the table nowadays.  But bombing them is clearly not off the table.  Covert ops inside Iran are not off the table and have been going on for years.  Provoking them is not off the table.  Maybe some naval and air war.  But from what we've heard of future military strategy, we aren't going to do big, boots on the ground invasions in the near future.  In Syria, we use and/or team up with militias, as we did in Libya. In Africa, we partner with governments and train elite military squads, as we did in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I don't know what to expect with Iran.
