    If they are so inconsequential, ditch them.  

    This netting that they talk about does not account for black swans, I assume, or we would not have had to pay out hundreds of billions in bailouts.  And the people behind the bets have the money to pay out, right?  So we don't have to pay their bets again next time?

      If those derivatives are truly hedges rather than a fools bet, and if they really do net out to a "very small sum" then the only justification I can see for the existence of those derivatives is to inflate the compensation of financial managers.

      Somehow we need to return to sensible values. I see no better way to do that than to simply pull the plug.

      Others have simply gotten old. I prefer to think I've been tempered by time.
