      more about that.

There were some stories a few weeks ago about currency wars.  The conclusion drawn was that Japan was not really waging currency war.  But I'm not sure I get the big picture with this whole thing.   I hope that you do and can help us understand it! :)  Or rather the segment of "us" who could use some help understanding it. Others here are much better at the macro economics than I am.

my understanding of monetary policy is, um...rudimentary might even be exaggerating.  I'm also in the segment who could use the help.  Maybe that's part of why I find myself drawn to that type of news, ie. Cyprus and such.  Speaking intuitively, it certainly seems as though there must be a bigger picture and that's also what makes all of the "pieces, parts" so very fascinating to me.  Inevitable collapse and everybody jockeying not to be at the bottom of the heap when it happens is my guess.  It looks like the only alternative TPTB perceive right now is upping the ante against one another.   What a shame and a waste and what a failure of imagination, if so, because if there will be collapse there are a lot more constructive actions we could be taking to ameliorate the pain.
