  •  General Incompetence (3+ / 0-)

He got involved in primaries in Kane County last year and is blamed for the drubbings the party took in 2010 and 2012 (well, 2010 wasn't a drubbing, but they gained way less legislative seats than the GOP did in other states)

    •  Did Repubs take a county-level drubbing in '12 (1+ / 0-)

I know Dems did much better than expected in Lake County elections.

Lake County went bluer than expected. Will County in Chicagoland also. In Peoria County Jerry Brady held the States Attorney seat against just about every dollar that the Schock and LaHood machines could muster. I lost money when the Dem won the County Clerk's race in dark red Adams County (half of Bobby Schilling's 2010 margin of victory came out of Adams County).

Like geoneb said, it's general incompetence. He got into the weeds in the Kane County executive race, against a reasonably popular Republican former state senator. He spends most of his time on a personal war with Mike Madigan (the ILGOP 2012 slogan was "Fire Madigan!", wahwah). Every year he trumpets the ILGOP's expanded field program that will turn the tide. It turns out to be a couple of call centers making poorly targeted calls with bad scripts and even more poorly targeted robocalls. The targeting is so bad that I (voted in every Dem primary I was eligible for and my only jobs post graduation have been with Democratic campaigns) regularly get the calls.

        IL-10 to IL-07 by way of -09, -17 and -18.
