Security that we could work to get the party to adopt.  One is Senator Sanders plan that Harry Reid has co-sponsored:

The other plan is Senator Mark Begich (D) of Alaska known as the Strengthen & Preserve Social Security Act of 2013 that also has Congressman Ted Deutch (D. FL-21) proposing similar legislation in the House:

    •  Well, kudos to you pdc for trying to get the word (0+ / 0-)

out about the two pieces of legislation.

But truthfully, as a 'near-senior' (meaning that I'm not old enough to draw either Medicare or even early age Social Security benefits), I can tell you, after almost five years of seeing the Dems lead the charge on 'savings' to programs which n the not so far future, will be very important to me and millions and millions of other Boomers, it'll take quite a bit MORE than a proposal or two with a handful of sponsors (that haven't even made it out of committee for a vote) to make me want to support a Senator, or a Representative.

Kudos to you for trying to get the word out about these two bills.

But my questions is:  Where are the bill sponsors?  If this is really more to them than a cynical effort to garner seniors' votes in the midterm elections, why are THEY not all over the place (TV, radio, etc.) trying to garner support for their bills, so that there is a chance to get a groundswell of public support?

Several of the folks associated with these two efforts barely squeaked by in their last election (Franken, Blumenthal) and Begich is apparently running neck in neck with a Republican Mead Treadwell in Alaska, for his seat.  And I imagine that many of the better informed seniors in these gentlemen's states know this.  They really need to look more serious in their efforts and intent.

But, as always, thanks for all that you do.
