  •  Amazing isn't it (5+ / 0-)

Big mistakes were made, but no consequences. I remember the administration talking about their rigorous standards for Shell in the Arctic.

The report from DoI contains 19 pages worth of violations and gross mistakes. The only consequence is that Shell must wait a year before going back in to drill.

If I were to drive a car while drunk and crash it, I doubt anyone would buy the fact that my plan to find alternative transportation failed and accept my promise to have a better plan next time. Nor will they laud the fact that while I crashed my car, I did not hurt anyone. But if an oil company crashes a rig into the rocks after it broke free from a vessel that should not have been towing it, it is all good because no oil was spilled in the process. It is ludicrous.

    Be radical in your compassion.
