Hopefully you'll participate in other ways, in direct action. You know, eating less meat, driving a car with higher mpg, not living in a McMansion, etc., and helping others do the same?

One of the major differences between Democrats and Republicans is that the former have the moral imagination to see the moral dimension of financial affairs, while the latter do not. Some pragmatists are exceptions.

no problem. I lead a small, cozy but happy life not based on consumerism.

My diary is really about the fact that people can network and be powerful outside of the streets. Candidates can be identified and voted for if we dare to step outside the fenced in parameters we exist in right now.

What if Occupy identified a candidate? What if Labor did? What if people simply in their living rooms and the computer in their kitchen coalesced around an outsider?

No one can prevent this from happening if we choose to make it happen. It doesn't need media, it doesn't need campaign dollars, it doesn't need TV ads - it simply needs people who are willing to be involved and to have the courage to write in candidates.

Our system is broken. So I think in order to change it, we have to find ways to work outside of it.

“Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of a free people. A nation does not have to be cruel to be tough.” FDR
