    ....name when they settled 'at the head of a lough' !

    After William Boyd, Earl of Kilmarnock was executed following the '45, a number of his relatives fled to Ireland, and changed their name from Boyd to Loughead...a wise choice. So the family has been Irish since 1746. I think that's just about enough to claim you're Irish! (Especially today)
